METHODOLOGY FOR THE CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH CLASSROOM

This pedagogical course provides a comprehensive exploration of contemporary ELT (English Language Teaching) methodologies. It commences with the fundamentals of lesson planning, emphasizing pedagogical aims and learning objectives. The course then delves into visual aids, exploiting imagery to stimulate learner engagement. Subsequent sessions focus on enhancing literacy skills, with an emphasis on making reading instruction relevant and cultivating effective listening strategies.

The course also explores current trends in teaching writing, with a focus on both product and process writing approaches and what role AI should play in a writing class. Phonetics and phonology are addressed through the teaching of pronunciation and connected speech. The course promotes learner autonomy, advocating for a learner-centric classroom environment. It also introduces EdTech (Educational Technology) tools for classroom integration.

The course concludes with a focus on lexical approach, debunking traditional grammar teaching myths. The overarching aim is to equip educators with a diverse toolkit of effective teaching strategies, fostering a deep understanding of 21st-century ELT methodologies.
